Data About People Deserves a Careful Hand
Working with Nigerian adolescent fertility data reminded me that behind every row is a person. A short note on analysing sensitive datasets with respect.
The adolescent fertility dataset felt personal — partly because of my physiology background, partly because the numbers describe real futures. Analysis that treats people as decoration for a report is analysis I don't want to do.
So I ask a different question: what would make this legible and useful to someone who wants to help, without flattening the people inside it?
