Data About People Deserves a Careful Hand
Working with Nigerian adolescent fertility data reminded me that behind every row is a person. A short note on analysing sensitive datasets with respect.
The adolescent fertility dataset felt personal, partly because of my physiology background, partly because the numbers describe real futures. Analysis that treats people as decoration for a report is analysis I don't want to do.
So I ask a different question: what would make this legible and useful to someone who wants to help, without flattening the people inside it?
